Watkins Glen Burger King event to show off 'sizzle' redesign Nov. 7

Burger King in Watkins Glen will show off its new "sizzle" restaurant redesign and treat guests to special giveaways, prizes, free samples and other surprises at a public ribbon-cutting celebration on Saturday, Nov. 7. After closing for months to complete the interior and exterior reimagining of the fast food restaurant, the Watkins Glen BK at 211 Franklin St. reopened in October with a whole new look and added features, including digital ordering kiosks, an enhanced drive-thru, a designated pick-up area and signature interior design elements like the new “King Booth." “We’re excited to bring this newly remodeled restaurant to the Watkins Glen community,” said Don McIntyre, Burger King Division Vice President. “After years of serving guests in the community, we can’t wait for them to experience this state-of-the-art design and create new memories for years to come.” The new “Sizzle” design concept is an extension of the brand’s goal to achieve an 85-90% modern image across the U.S. by 2028, fueled by more than $700 million in investments since the brand announced its “Reclaim the Flame” strategy in 2022. Southern Tier trails are a gem. Summit aims to take them to next level

A day-long Southern Tier Greenways Planning Summit, hosted by Parks & Trails New York, took stock of the greenway trail plans already in motion across the region and tackled what it will take to link them into a connected regional network. The event, held Nov. 5 at the Corning Museum of Glass, focused on the eight-county Southern Tier Regional Economic Development region, which includes Steuben, Schuyler, Chemung, Tompkins, Tioga, Broome, Chenango and Delaware counties. The event paired project updates from local and regional partners with hands-on working sessions on the challenges and opportunities ahead. Kamala Keeley, President of Three Rivers Development Corporation, said trails, waterways and parks aren't amenities on the side; they're part of what makes a region a place people choose to build a life. “When our employers recruit engineers, nurses, and skilled trades, candidates want to know what life looks like outside of work," Keeley said. "Every connected mile of trail strengthens our answer, and it helps us keep the talented people who are already here.” Keeley said the Southern Tier is losing population, particularly residents who are between 25 and 44 years old. Finger Lakes Rail Experience debuts Christmas excursion

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Rail Experience will conclude its second operating season by launching a new holiday-themed excursion. The 2026 Finger Lakes Christmas Train will offer 70-minute round trips on Nov. 28–29 and Dec. 4–6, 11–13, and 18–20. The trips will depart from downtown Canandaigua at 25 Pleasant St. and will travel to the Shortsville depot, which will serve as the North Pole destination. The residency at 114 Pine St. is open to the public from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Café Cómodo is built around the simple idea that coffee brings people together, said Carol Cain, co-owner of Café Cómodo. The coffee bar pairs carefully made specialty espresso with a passion for coffee education, inviting guests to learn about origins, brewing, and flavor, according to a community announcement. Its menu explores new flavor profiles that celebrate co-owner Carol Cain's Latin heritage, alongside the espresso classics regulars count on. Guests can even take Café Cómodo home as the café sells its own specialty roasted beans. New 7 Brew coffee spot in Big Flats sets grand opening fundraiser

The new 7 Brew coffee stand in Big Flats is looking to charge up this weekend with a “Caffeine for a Cause” give-back event benefiting Arnot Ogden Medical Center. To help celebrate its grand opening, customers can stop by the stand Friday, Nov. 6, through Sunday, Nov. 8, to try a limited menu on a pay-what-you-want basis as a donation to Arnot Ogden Medical Center, the company said. The stand will be open 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Friday, and 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The new coffee spot is located at 855 County Road 64 in Big Flats.
