YATES COUNTY--The Yates County Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day was held Saturday, Sept. 23 at the fairgrounds in Penn Yan. This year’s event took in waste from over 300 registered participants and the collection ensures the responsible disposal of items such as chemicals like old gasoline or water-based paints and e-waste items such as old televisions or computers. The event was available to residents of Yates or Schuyler County.

The old Pizza Hut on East Pulteney Street, Corning, one of 17 Pizza Hut restaurants in Western New York that closed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, may reopen. Coleen Fabrizi, executive director of the Corning Gaffer District, said she understands an unknown Pizza Hut franchisee has purchased several local Pizza Hut buildings, including the 55 E. DRYDEN, N.Y. (WHCU) – No injuries were reported in a bad crash in Tompkins County. Dryden Police responded to the Mirabito on West Main Street around 4:30 p.m. on Monday for a reported accident. Webster, N.Y. — A driver was killed in a crash involving a Wayne Central School District bus at the intersection of Lake Road and Route 250 Wednesday afternoon. ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — Opioid abuse cases continue to rise in Tompkins County. That’s according to Frank Kruppa, commissioner of the Whole Health Department. Between January and June, 17 opioid overdose deaths were reported. It’s the same number of OD deaths in the entire year of 2019.

TRUMANSBURG, N.Y. (WBNG/Gray News) - A 2-year-old boy was injured after falling at a state park in New York over the weekend. According to New York Parks and Recreations, the child fell about 25 feet off a trail near the lower falls at the Taughannock Falls State Park Sunday evening.
