Recycling event nets 12,000 pounds of e-waste
YATES COUNTY--The Yates County Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day was held Saturday, Sept. 23 at the fairgrounds in Penn Yan. This year’s event took in waste from over 300 registered participants and the collection ensures the responsible disposal of items such as chemicals like old gasoline or water-based paints and e-waste items such as old televisions or computers. The event was available to residents of Yates or Schuyler County.

Coleen Fabrizi, executive director of the Corning Gaffer District, said she understands an unknown Pizza Hut franchisee has purchased several local Pizza Hut buildings, including the 55 E. Pulteney St. location, and plans to update and reopen them.
Bus stop destroyed in Dryden crash
DRYDEN, N.Y. (WHCU) – No injuries were reported in a bad crash in Tompkins County. Dryden Police responded to the Mirabito on West Main Street around 4:30 p.m. on Monday for a reported accident. Investigators say someone pulled out of the post office and struck another vehicle traveling in the opposite direction on West Main Street, causing it to collide with the TCAT bus stop.
Driver killed in fiery crash involving Wayne school bus
Webster, N.Y. — A driver was killed in a crash involving a Wayne Central School District bus at the intersection of Lake Road and Route 250 Wednesday afternoon. Police said the bus was carrying 22 high school students and three adults eastbound on Lake Road around 1:15 p.m. when a Toyota pulled out from Route 250 into the path of the bus.

Hiking trail officially opens in Odessa
On the first day of autumn, at the Texas Hollow end of the new Odessa-Hector Rail Trail, the air held the scent of autumn and the flavor of community pride.
