Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, October 6, 2023 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll with Deacon Alan Loew officiating. Music for the service will be by Kathy Halbur. KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The main cold front continues to move through the area this morning bringing scattered showers and thunderstorms from one end of our viewing area to the other. Much of the storms will be moving to the east by 6 or 7 a.m. however, wet and slick conditions will remain, so please take caution while commuting this morning. At the same time, it is well worthwhile to keep that umbrella handy. This is not the only opportunity for rainfall today. By late this afternoon, one more round of shower and thunderstorm activity is expected, and some of our models are indicating a more robust opportunity for storms. The good news is that severe weather activity is still unlikely, and in fact well to the south of the viewing area. However, heavy downpours and potential gusts around 40 mph within these storms are still possible.

The Kansas Highway Patrol Crash Log indicates that around 6:50 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 3, emergency crews were called to the area of Highway 73 and Parallel Parkway in Kansas City with reports of a 2-vehicle collision that involved a school bus.

A man accused of murdering his infant daughter in Columbia six years ago will head to trial next year. Staffone Fountain, 31, of Independence, is charged with second-degree murder, first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, and abandonment of a corpse in the death of four-month-old Samone Daniels. On Monday, a judge scheduled Fountain’s jury trial for February 27, 2024. A pre-trial conference is scheduled for February 20, 2024.
