West Wichita restaurant owners say morning burglary could put them out of business
West Wichita restaurant owners say morning burglary could put them out of business. Inside, stickers and posters cover the walls. The smell of fresh dough and pizza sauce mixes with low-voiced conversation and rock and roll music from a modern jukebox.

7 dishes families ordered at Pizza Hut in the red-tablecloth days, from pan pizza to garlic bread
The first Pizza Hut opened in Wichita, Kansas in 1958, and for the next three decades the chain meant a real table in a real building, not a box left on a porch. The dining rooms had red-and-white checked tablecloths, wooden booths worn smooth, and a jukebox in the corner of more than a few locations. Pitchers of soda reached the table first. The pizza came out of a pan so hot the cheese held its shape for a full minute before it settled.

Take a look inside the new home of this longtime Wichita Mexican restaurant
It’s opening day for a popular west-side Mexican restaurant. Make that re-opening day. More than a week ago , Pedro Guevara closed his Puerto Vallarta Mexican Restaurant, which he’d operated at 608 N. Tyler for nearly eight years, so that he could move it to a bigger spot less than half a mile away, at 756 N. Tyler. Guevara and his wife, Elizabeth Zaragoza, put on a ribbon cutting outside the new business this morning and now are welcoming customers in to celebrate their grand reopening. Puerto Vallarta now has a second menu filled with American dishes such as pizza, sandwiches, chicken-fried chicken, chicken tenders and wings. Guevara decided to make the move not only because he’d outgrown his own space but also because he’d been having trouble with the air conditioning in his original building. Puerto Vallarta has taken over both the bar side and the restaurant side of the

October brought several restaurants openings, closings and lease signings. Here’s a quick catch-up on the stories that you might have missed: Haysville sushi spot expanding: Hikari Sushi and Ramen, which opened two years ago in Haysville, is opening a Wichita location at 2516 E. Central in mid-to-late November. Owner Candra Wijanarko will carry over the same menu of sushi, rolls, poke bowls, bento boxes and ramen. The space was most recently home to the short-lived Filipino restaurant Kusina Ni Cheska. Riverside corner building auctioned: The 210-square-foot building at 11th and Bitting that most recently housed Nacho Mama’s is headed to auction through McCurdy Real Estate & Auction , along with the converted house behind it. Built around 1922 as a Golden Rule filling station, the building has housed restaurants, salons and retail shops for more than a century. Bidding opened Tuesday Nov. 3 and closes Nov. 11. Two restaurant owners detained: La Galette French Bakery owner Rob Attar remains in ICE custody while his attorney Abdul Arif pursues an emergency motion, and Lady Burritos owner Yesica Marisol Pena Olivas was also detained along with her mother, brother and sister. 10th Circuit gives go-ahead for Kansas restaurant's cheeseburger mural
(CN) — A 10th Circuit panel on Friday lit the grill for a cheeseburger joint’s whimsical building mural, finding the Salina, Kansas, sign code constitutionally undercooked. Salina classified the UFO-themed cheeseburger painting on the side of the Cozy Inn restaurant as a sign rather than a mural because...
