3 students arrested after guns found in Newton high school, deputies say
Deputies in Newton County have arrested three students after finding guns inside a high school earlier this month. According to a police report obtained by Channel 2 Action News, administrators found a loaded extended magazine on one of the students on April 15. The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office reported the following incidents:. METH SEIZED: On April 6, Deputy Dustin Mines was traveling north on South Burson Avenue in Bogart when he received an alert that a Mercedes was traveling on Atlanta Highway and the driver was wanted on a warrant. The deputy located the car and made a traffic stop. The driver, a 51-year-old Athens woman, was placed in custody. The deputy spotted some pieces of meth on the seat and located a folded dollar bill that also contained meth. The passenger, a 46-year-old man with a Forsyth address, was placed in custody. Another passenger, a 46-year-old Watkinsville man, was seen throwing some cocaine out the window. He explained the other man threw it toward him after the stop, so he threw it out. A search was made of the trunk and a safe with some meth and syringes was found. The officers located three cell phones, and $2,248 in cash. The two men were both charged with trafficking in meth.
