Four livestock killed during confirmed and probable wolf depredations in Northeast Oregon

UNION & WALLOWA COUNTIES – The Oregon Department of fish and wildlife has released new information on investigated wolf depredations across Oregon. For October 2026, ODFW lists four investigated wolf depredations between Union and Wallowa Counties, resulting in one dead adult cow, one dead yearling cow, and two dead calves.

Dollar General Eyes Adams Site, Needs City to Nearly Double Size Limit

Dollar General wants to plant a new store on the edge of Adams, but the retailer's plans run nearly double the size the city's code currently allows for commercial buildings. The proposed roughly 9,000-square-foot store would need both a variance and a development permit before it can move forward, and the Adams Planning Commission has a meeting scheduled this week to keep the process moving.

Decision 2026: Umatilla County election results

UMATILLA COUNTY – With preliminary votes in, two fire districts are ahead in the request for option tax funds while one is behind. Voters are saying yes to Umatilla County Fire District No. 1 with 52.61 percent of the vote and in Pilot Rock they are approving the local option tax overwhelmingly with 83.38 percent of the voters (including those in Lexington) approving the renewal.

Portland man loses half of his foot after salon pedicure, sues for $900K

A 40-year-old Portland man says he lost half of his foot after it became infected from unsterilized tools used during a pedicure he received at a local nail salon. Nathan Fields has filed a $913,000 lawsuit against Eden Salon & Spa, claiming that a nail technician “severely cut” his big toe during the March 2025 pedicure and that ultimately led to two amputations that carved away all of his toes and much of his foot.

City of Portland workers could be headed for strikes

The City of Portland could be heading for not one but two strikes as bargaining with two unions representing city employees grinds to a halt. City of Portland Professional Workers (CPPW) — which represents 800 salaried program coordinators and analysts — has set a Nov. 9 strike date. And Laborers Local 483 declared impasse Oct. 27 in bargaining over a new contract covering 700 city laborers; they could strike as soon as Dec. 4.
