House fire devastates Cullman woman
CULLMAN, Ala. – A fire in the early morning hours Thursday, April 25, claimed the home and possessions of a Cullman woman who is now left to pick up the pieces. KJ Canaday was abruptly awakened around 1 a.m. on Thursday to the sight of smoke and fire engulfing her home. The fire, caused by a small air conditioner unit exploding, quickly spread throughout the house, leaving it in ruins. Despite the swift response of local firefighters, the home and all its contents were completely destroyed, leaving Canaday to face a devastating loss.

Suspect sought following Saturday pursuit
(7:25 p.m.) UPDATE: Cody Brown is in custody CULLMAN, Ala. – Earlier today, Cullman County Sheriff’s Office deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the East Point area. The driver, identified as Cody Weston Brown, 32, of Crane Hill, stopped and immediately fled the area on foot, according to the CCSO. Deputies and Cullman police officers attempted to locate Brown but were unsuccessful. The CCSO said Brown has active warrants. “Any information as to his whereabouts is greatly appreciated,” the CCSO said in a statement. “Deputies will continue to be in the area as well. HANCEVILLE, Ala. – Wallace State Community College brought home 26 medals from the 2024 Alabama State Leadership and SkillsUSA Championships held this week in Mobile, with two-thirds of those being gold medals in 12 of 18 categories. Eighteen students earned gold medals during the competition, earning the opportunity to compete at the SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference (NLSC) June 24-28 in Atlanta.
