Slim Chickens donates over $1.5K to The Link
CULLMAN, Ala. – During the early months of 2024, the management and staff at Slim Chickens in Cullman started searching for ways to give back to the community and make a difference in the lives of patrons. The restaurant began a “Share the Love” campaign, with $1 of every chicken and waffles purchase in February set aside for The Link of Cullman County. ‘It’s a community garden in every sense’
CULLMAN, Ala. – The southwest side of Cullman is a bustling, densely populated residential area. One lot on the corner of Logan Street Southwest and Cleveland Avenue Southwest is home to a neatly arranged series of raised concrete planter boxes – the Logan and Cleveland Community Garden. Area residents can reserve these boxes, test their green thumbs and cultivate their own gardens.
Hanceville Public Library kitchen gets overhaul
HANCEVILLE, Ala. – Hanceville Public Library employees and volunteers will be able to provide snacks and refreshments for the many groups that use the library, thanks to a grant that allowed the library to perform a major overhaul of its kitchen and breakroom area. The grant was from the same organization that aided the library in the construction of its Reading Garden in 2022 – the Alabama Mountains, Rivers & Valleys Resource Conservation & Development (RC&D) Council. SBP Drama puts on ‘Wonderland!’
CULLMAN, Ala. – On April 27 and 28, Saint Bernard Prep’s Drama Department put on “Wonderland!,” an adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.” Despite the necessity of last-minute changes and the challenges of a small cast doubling as backstage crew, the team led the audience on a fun adventure through the looking glass. English teacher Kirsten Dickerson directed, and John Caples oversaw the technical side of the production.
