Two killed as cars catch fire after head-on collision
Two people are dead after a head-on collision in Cullman County. The two people were driving separate cars, which both caught fire after the impact, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency. ALEA said the crash happened around 5:30 a.m. Saturday on Alabama 91 a few miles south of Hanceville.

The Tennessee Valley will experience visibility reductions early this morning due to a combination of patchy fog and low stratus clouds. While fog generally reduces visibility by 2-4 miles across the region, the presence of low stratus clouds may decrease visibility to less than half a mile, particularly in the higher terrain of northeast Alabama and southern Middle Tennessee. Motorists are advised to exercise extreme caution as visibility will vary due to the sporadic nature of the fog and clouds. It is recommended to use low beams, drive at reduced speeds, and maintain a safe distance from other vehicles. Conditions are expected to improve between 8-9 AM CDT.
Harbison stepping down from United Way
CULLMAN, Ala. – United Way of Cullman County Executive Director Waid Harbison on Thursday, Sept. 14, announced his resignation, effective November 2023. Harbison was recently diagnosed with Huntington’s disease. He said he will likely not have major symptoms for three to five years, but he is leaving for a role that will allow him more flexibility to travel and enjoy the years he has before those symptoms begin. “I have absolutely loved my role as executive director with United Way. CDC cuts ribbon on Cullman County Life Center
CULLMAN, Ala. – On Thursday afternoon, the Cullman County Child Development Center (CDC) hosted a ribbon cutting for its new Cullman County Life Center. Cullman County Schools renovated existing space and turned it into a fully functioning apartment including a living area, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom to work with students to teach them independent living skills for a successful post-secondary transition. CDC students will have access to a state-of-the-art facility that will foster success when they transition to the real world.
