Cullman City Council announces Teacher Appreciation Week
CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman City Council on Monday, April 22, issued a proclamation naming May 6-10, 2024, as Teacher Appreciation Week in the city, joining the upcoming national observance. Graveside services for Gracie Jones, 82, of Hanceville will be 2 p.m. Thursday April 25, 2024 at Welti Cemetery. Mrs. Jones was born November 10, 1941 in Cullman, Alabama to Arbell and Maggie (Thomas) Hooper. She passed away April 23, 2024 at her residence in Hanceville, Alabama. Mrs. Jones is survived by her husband, James R. Jones; children, Tony Hardy (Rhonda), Eddie Hardy (Rhonda), Shawn Jones (Kelly), Jeremy Jones (Jennifer); 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Fran Creel (Dave); brothers, James Hooper, Gerald Hooper, and Robert Hooper. CPD hosts community cookout
CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman Police Department hosted over 100 attendees at its community cookout Saturday at the Cullman Housing Authority. Walker County inmate dies in custody
JASPER, Ala. – An inmate at the Walker County Jail died while in custody on Friday, April 19. At the request of the Walker County Sheriff’s Office, Special Agents with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) launched an investigation into an in-custody death that occurred at the Walker County Jail in Jasper on Friday, April 19. Good Samaritan Health Clinic unveils plans for new $2.8M location
CULLMAN, Ala. – Good Samaritan Health Clinic at a community press conference on Monday, April 22, unveiled plans for its new home, a $2.8 million facility that will be located along Veterans Drive Southwest. MOULTON, Ala. – A family in Moulton is finally receiving the closure they have been awaiting for almost eight decades. The Battle of Hurtgen Forest was fought from September 1944 to February 1945 between American and German forces in the wake of Normandy. On Dec. 6, 1944, Noah Reeves was one of the many soldiers in the Battle of Hurtgen Forest who were killed in action; unlike his comrades, the lead scout’s body was never discovered or returned. CULLMAN, Ala. – On Wednesday, April 24, the Cullman County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) will roll out its new mass notification system: Everbridge Mass Notification. FL man arrested on child porn charges in Good Hope
GOOD HOPE, Ala. – A Florida man was arrested on 20 counts of child pornography-related charges on Wednesday, April 17. Cullman County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call concerning a possible sex offender in the Good Hope area. Joseph Dale Cooper, 47, of Orlando was located at the scene. Deputies and investigators said they determined Cooper was in possession of child pornography. CCSO says Cooper was arrested and charged with 10 counts of possession of child pornography and 10 counts of production of pornography with minors.
