Henrico’s March unemployment rate down from same month in 2023
In keeping with a statewide trend, Henrico County’s March unemployment rate was down when compared with the rate one year earlier. The county witnessed an unemployment rate of 2.5% this March, down from 2.8% last March, according to new data from the Virginia Employment Commission. A total of 4,745 people who were seeking work in the county in March couldn’t find it, the data showed.

‘Hidden in Plain Sight’ event April 30 to help parents detect signs of alcohol, drug use by teens
A number of government and community groups will host a program Tuesday, April 30 at Varina High School to help parents detect signs of drug and alcohol use by their teens. The event, “Hidden in Plain Sight,” will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the school, located at 7053 Messer Road. Victim of Henrico moped crash identified
Henrico Police have identified the man who died when the moped he was driving crashed into another vehicle April 29. Maurice Green, 59 of Henrico, died on Mechanicsville Turnpike near the Henrico-Hanover line after his moped was struck by another vehicle as he was stopping or slowing down abruptly in the middle lane, according to police. The crash was reported at about 3:19 p.m.
Collegiate School’s Fairy Godmother Program provides prom dresses to JFBHS students
Thanks to the Collegiate School’s Fairy Godmother Program, students at Jackson-Field Behavioral Health Services now have the perfect prom attire. The program, which is in its 24th year, provides prom dresses, shoes and jewelry for students in the program, which provides psychiatric, residential, educational and recovery treatment services for children who suffer from severe emotional trauma, mental illness and/or addiction. Jackson-Feild’s campus is located in Jarratt, Virginia, but its development office is in Henrico.
