Officials celebrate groundbreaking for northern segment of Fall Line Trail
Earlier this week, officials from Hanover, Henrico, and the Town of Ashland held a groundbreaking ceremony in Ashland to celebrate the start of construction on a 4.8-mile portion of the 43-mile Fall Line Trail. Henrico supervisors vote to expand Enterprise Zone, increase threshold for business license taxes
At its April 23 meeting, the Henrico Board of Supervisors approved a resolution that would make changes to the Henrico portion of the City of Richmond North/Henrico County Enterprise Zone by removing about 166 acres of residential developments and government-owned property and adding 194 acres of commercial and industrial properties that will become eligible for incentives. Enterprise zones enable localities to target areas – typically older commercial locations – for redevelopment, using local and state incentives.
Henrico supervisors allocate $804K to fund regional homelessness efforts
The Henrico Board of Supervisors allocated more than $804,468 at its April 23 meeting to help fund two regional homelessness programs. The money will support programs operated by the Salvation Army and HomeAgain, representing Henrico’s contribution as part of a partnership with the city of Richmond to address homelessness in the region. The funding would carry over from Fiscal Year 2024 to FY25.
Glen Allen teen dies in I-295 crash in Hanover
A 19-year-old from Glen Allen died when the car he was driving ran off the road and crashed on I-295 in Hanover County April 23. Ethan Shelton was driving a 2016 Honda Accord southbound on the interstate shortly after noon when he ran off the road to the left at the 40-mile marker and struck an overpass head on, according to Virginia State Police officials.
