The University of Richmond has received a gold-level award for its efforts to promote health and well-being among students and employees.

The award is from Exercise is Medicine, a community-impact initiative of the American College of Sports Medicine that launched its recognition program in 2014 to honor campuses that create a culture of wellness.

UR is one of 145 colleges and universities globally to earn the award. Gold-level campuses — the highest honor — champion health and well-being of students, faculty and staff members as a priority. UR also received a gold award last year and has previously received silver and bronze awards.

UR’s well-being team includes its Counseling and Psychological Services, the Student Health Center, Disability Services, University Recreation, and Health Promotion divisions. The university incorporates Exercise is Medicine programming, which asks physical activity-related questions during intake exams and discusses exercise during meetings with students.
