Oran Woman Hurt In Rollover Crash
One woman was injured early Thursday morning in a rollover crash near Fairbank. Black Hawk County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the intersection of Fairbank Road and Pace Road, just after 7:00AM. They discovered a Nissan Xterra on its top in the ditch driven by 54-year-old Barbara Prunty of Oran. Prunty was negotiating the curves near the intersection when she lost control on the icy pavement and entered the ditch. Prunty was transported to a Waterloo hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Student Arrested for Not Returning Laptop
A former Hawkeye Community College student has been arrested for not returning a school issued laptop, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 29 year old Aprenthies Hackett checked out a laptop valued at nearly $1,700 in January for use in the industrial maintenance program. Nine days later he stopped going to classes but failed to return the laptop. Then, in September, he tried to pawn the laptop. The pawn shop contacted the school who then went to police. Hackett has been charged with second degree Theft. His bond has been set at $5,000.
