Iowa man arrested after stealing $30,000 in merch from Cedar Falls retail store
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (KCRG) - On May 23rd, 2023, Cedar Falls Police responded to a burglary that occurred at a retail store in the 2600 block of Center Street. Responders learned that in the early morning hours, a subject cut a lock on the perimeter fence and accessed locked buildings, and loaded boxed items and lawnmowers into his truck. It was determined the individual stole merchandise estimated to be worth over $30,000.

Iowa State Patrol announced that 17-year-olds Elijah Seals and Kesean Ford were racing westbound on Court Street on Saturday, May 27, around 11 p.m., when they both ran a stop sign and hit Russell. She was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead. Ford and Seals were injured along with 17-year-old passenger Michel Mbokolo. No charges have been filed yet.

Waterloo Woman Charged in May Homicide
A Waterloo woman has been arrested and charged in connection to a recent homicide case. 33-year-old Sarah Nagy Brown has been charged with first degree murder in the death of her mother, 54-year old Roberta Nagy. On May 21, Waterloo Police and Fire Rescue were dispatched to 217-D Fereday Court for a report of an unconscious woman. They attempted life-saving measures on Nagy, but she died at the hospital due to several knife wounds.
Area Man Arrested After Eluding Cedar Falls Police
An area man has been charged after eluding Cedar Falls Police early this morning. Police attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of 22nd and College street shortly after 2:00 a.m. on Friday. The driver eluded officers through several streets before pulling over at State Street where he was taken into custody. 23-year-old Kodi Torticill was charged with 2nd offense OWI, eluding, and driving with a suspended license. He was also charged with multiple traffic violations.

Waterloo Turns On New Bridge Lighting Project
Waterloo city and community leaders were on hand Thursday night for a ribbon cutting ceremony and initial lighting celebration on the 4th Street bridge in downtown Waterloo. Oran Locker Owner Faces Charges
The owner of the Oran Locker is facing four charges after an investigation between the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship. 53 year old Todd Briddle has been charged with two counts of 5th degree Fraudulent Practice and two counts of sale and transportation of adulterated and mis-branded meat or products. The Oelwein Daily Register is reporting that the charges stem from Briddle’s alleged failure to affix a state mandated label.

Waterloo woman dies when two teen drivers run Iowa City stop sign, hit her car, ISP says
A Waterloo woman died late Saturday in Iowa City after two teen drivers ran a stop sign and smashed into her car, the Iowa State Patrol reported. Jennifer Russell, 22, was in the intersection of East Court Street and Seventh Avenue when Kesean Ford and Elijah Seals, both of Iowa City, ran the stop sign in separate westbound cars and struck hers, according to the accident report.
Iowa 27 and US 218 Ramp Project: Ramp Closure and Stage 2 Notice
Starting June 12, 2023, the Iowa DOT's contractor, Owen Contracting, will be continuing lane reconstruction by starting the second stage of the IA 27 and US 218 ramp reconstruction project. During this second stage, the IA 27/58 southbound exit ramp (exit towards the University of Northern Iowa and Hudson) will continue to be closed. A second ramp closure of the northbound IA 27/58 to westbound IA 57 loop ramp (exit towards downtown Cedar Falls) will be closed. All remaining ramps will be open to traffic. US 218 westbound and IA 57 westbound will be in a single-lane reduced capacity.
