PONTIAC (WWJ) -- A 19-year-old man is behind bars in the Oakland County Jail, accused of attempted murder for shooting up an apartment, leaving a young man paralyzed.

Karvyon Zorell Murphy of Farmington Hills was arraigned in 50th District Court Wednesday on multiple felony charges including assault with intent to murder, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.

At around 10 p.m. on April 7, it's alleged Murphy tired several gunshots into an apartment unit in the North Hill Farms Apartment Complex on Fireside Lane in Pontiac.

Responding deputies found a 20-year-old man who had been shot in the neck lying in the floor who told them that the shots came in from outside.

Deputies also found a 19-year-old woman in the apartment who'd been shot in the arm, and a 43-year-old man who was not injured.

Deputies found multiple shell casings outside a nearby apartment.

An investigation by the sheriff's office led to Murphy's arrest

“The senseless and cowardly act of violence that permanently altered the lives of others should have a severe punishment to hold anyone involved accountable,” said Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard, in a statement.

"I am proud of our team’s work to both identify the perpetrator, as well as locate and arrest him. Violence of this nature will not be tolerated.”

Murphy was ordered held on a $75,000 bond, and his next court appearances was set for May 7.

Officials have not discussed a possible motive for the shooting.
