Pontiac Feb 20 Weekly Crime Report
During the last week, the place of Pontiac reported a total of 74 crime cases. The most frequent crime type was Assault, with 29 instances, which accounted for nearly 39% of the total crimes. Theft followed closely as the second most common crime with 20 cases, making up approximately 27% of the total. Other crimes were reported 9 times, while Arrests were made in 5 instances. The less frequent crimes included Robbery (3), Burglary (2), Arson (2), and single instances of Vandalism, Hit & Run, Trespass, and Domestic Related incidents. It is concerning to note the high prevalence of violent crimes such as Assault and Robbery. The local authorities are urged to take immediate actions to ensure the safety of the residents.
Farmington Public Schools board addresses issues of discrimination within the district
FARMINGTON — The Farmington Public Schools Board of Education held a nearly six-hour special meeting Feb. 14 to address issues of discrimination within the district. Concerned parents, students and community members continuously flooded in and out of the Maxfield Training Center to hear what the board had to say about issues that African American and Palestinian students in particular are facing, as well as to address their own comments to the board. At one point there were over 100 people in the room, with audience members lined up against the walls.

FOX 2 (WJBK) - Two men wanted in Westland for attempting to run over multiple police officers were arrested in Arkansas after leading local police on a pursuit on Feb. 7. Robert Mercier and Trenton Johnson were driving a stolen U-Haul cargo van when they were arrested after an officer with the Locust Grove Police Department used a maneuver to end the chase - which had reached up to 120 miles per hour. The officer's car rolled multiple times and he suffered minor injuries.
