As we approach the summer months, it is time for prediction season for the upcoming college football season is upon us.

The NCAA transfer portal is now closed, and each team has plenty of excitement, as the new 12-team playoff gives more teams a shot to make a run at the CFP National Championship.

While we will see some new logos in the playoffs this season, J.D. PicKell of On3 predicts that one of the traditional powers will be right back at the top again this fall. PicKell has extremely high expectations for the Ohio State Buckeyes for the 2024 season, in large part due to their recent failures.

"They understand what has to be done, and also I think a lot of these guys understand what it feels like to not get it done...They understand what the path is. It's gotta be a Big Ten Championship, it's gotta be a National Championship. They get that," PicKell said.

It may seem a little backward that Ohio State's recent struggles to overcome Michigan and win the conference work to their advantage. But PicKell is convinced that those losses will drive this team even further in 2024.

"I think it (losing) removes the fear. And when you don't fear failure, that's a dangerous thing," PicKell said.

Ohio State is always going to have talent. There are not many people questioning their roster and what they can do. The question is can head coach Ryan Day lead his team over the hump and back to the top of not only the Big Ten but the entire country.

J.D. thinks that this might be the year that happens. The Buckeyes open the 2024 season against Akron on Aug. 31 at Ohio Stadium.
