When piecing together an incident like Scottie Scheffler's arrest at the PGA Championship, body camera footage from the arresting officer is vastly important.

The arresting officer in Scheffler's case, Bryan Gillis, did not have his body camera on at the time of the incident last Friday morning.

During a press conference on Thursday, the Louisville Police Department said it exercised "corrective action" on Gillis for failing to activate his body camera. It's unclear how exactly the arresting officer was punished.

"Detective Gillis did not have his body-worn camera operational ready. Our officer has received corrective action for his policy violation. We respect the judicial process, and we will allow the courts to proceed," Louisville Police Chief Jacquelyn Gwinn-Villaroel said, via ESPN's Jeff Darlington.

Scheffler was arrested and hit with four charges, including one felony second-degree assault on a police officer. The World No. 1 golfer described the situation as a "big misunderstanding."

Louisville PD is not dropping the charges at this time.

Scheffler's attorney, Steve Romines, remains firm in his client's innocence.

“Our position remains the same as it was last Friday. I am not negotiating as we have no interest in settling. I am preparing to litigate as needed and the case will be dismissed or we will go to trial because Scottie did absolutely nothing wrong," Romines said in a statement, per Darlington.

Scheffler teed off in his first round at the Charles Schwab Challenge on Thursday.
