Play of the Week: Dellangelo electrifies crowd with punt return TD
NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WBUP/WJMN) - A majority of high school football teams took the field on homecoming. Our top play taking place in Iron town where the Negaunee Miners were playing host to the Hancock Bulldogs. After taking an 8-0 lead, the Negaunee defense forced a three-and-out. Hancock chose to punt of 4th down, and on the receiving end, was do it all playmaker, Senior Evan Dellangelo. At this point, your best bet is to kick the ball out of bounds and keep it away from number 11. Dellangelo fielded the punt and headed towards the sidelines. In the blink of an eye, Dellangelo was waltzing into the endzone to put the Miners up by two scores! For Dellangelo, it almost seems like the game slows down to a halt. At this point, every time he gets the ball in his hands, you're expecting something special to happen and he didn't disappoint the sold-out crown in Negaunee on Friday night. Negaunee rolled to a 40-0 win over Hancock as the Miners ended a two-game skid and moved above the .500-mark. Congrats to Evan on earning our play of the week! Going into a new year at NMU, with all of the new students settling in and going to classes, can sometimes cause a lot of traffic. Especially with more than 1,800 new students enrolled in the fall semester. For years, students have called parking on campus “a dead horse beaten,” a recurring complaint that has become almost as predictable as the Marquette winters.
