A warmer week with minimal snow

Spotty mix today followed by a warm up
A warm front will swing through by tomorrow. Ahead of it, some spotty wintry mix including wet snow, sleet, and freezing drizzle could be possible in the east late in the day through tonight. Watch out for slick spots. Unseasonably warm air comes at the end of the week. Highs could range up to 15° above normal. This weekend a system will bring some rain and snow to the area on Saturday with lake-effect snow continuing along the northwest wind belts on Sunday.
Copper Shores Meals on Wheels temporary closure
Due to a COVID-19 outbreak among staff members, Copper Shores Meals on Wheels will be temporarily closed for the remainder of the week, ending Friday, Dec. 8. Meals on Wheels clients will receive their normal hot meal today and additional meals to get them through the end of the week. This decision was made out of an abundance of caution after nearly half of our staff either tested positive for COVID-19 or is exhibiting similar symptoms to those that have tested positive. We know how important the daily visit from our caring staff s is, but we know it’s even more important to make sure everyone stays healthy,” said program director Kathleen Harter. Three years after Covid-19 emerged, it continues to impact many businesses and organizations. Meals on Wheels organizers are hopeful the program will return to normal operations by Dec. 11. Michigan Veteran Homes Publishes Wish List for Veteran Members Ahead of Holiday Season
LANSING, Mich. — Michigan Veteran Homes has published a wish list for each Home highlighting much-needed items to support veteran members this holiday season. “Michiganders who fought and sacrificed for our freedom deserve our gratitude and support during the holidays,” said Governor Whitmer. “For the more than 300 veterans living at state veteran homes in Chesterfield Township, Grand Rapids, and Marquette, a letter filled with holiday wishes or a gift from their wish list makes a real difference in their lives and lets them know they are not forgotten. Let’s continue working together to make sure our veterans and their families feel our support around the holidays.”

Campaign Organizer Anna Juidici is collecting items from craft vendors to build gift baskets to raffle this Christmas. People have the chane to win one of these baskets when they donte to support local veterans. She is encouraging more people to donate for a chance to win. All funds from the raffle will be donated to the 23rd Veterans organization.
