CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) -Warm temperatures on Sunday with highs in the upper 70s and low 80s. Strong to severe storms are in Tuesday’s forecast. Today we’ll have a partly cloudy sky with a few showers and storms possible in our far northern counties during the late afternoon. Sunday’s highs will reach the low to mid-80s.
Freedom Festival Medallion Hunt underway in Cedar Rapids
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - The hunt for a special medallion from the Freedom Festival kicks off on Monday. The 4-inch acrylic disc with the festival’s 2024 logo is hidden somewhere on public park or trail land in the Cedar Rapids metro area. Clues will be released on KCRG-TV9′s Facebook page each day at 6:00 a.m., and read on TV9′s newscasts throughout the day. The person that finds the medallion will be given a $500 Hy-Vee gift card.

This was the sixth year for the event at Radiant Church, where friends and loved ones, members of the congregation, and just anyone from the community could come out and support these kids.
Food truck provides free food to people in Cedar Rapids
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - A Cedar Rapids man opened up the food truck he co-owns for free to help support families in an area that will soon become a food desert. Greg Wild is a Cedar Rapids native and said he wanted to give back to the community he grew up in. Cedar Rapids man sentenced to 50 years in prison for death of co-worker's roommate
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — A Cedar Rapids man accused of killing his co-worker's roommate last year has been sentenced to 50 years in prison. On February 15, Brannon Johnson was drinking alcohol and watching TV with his co-worker at an apartment located at the 2100 block of Buckingham Drive Northwest.
