Two of three orphaned black bear cubs found in Orange County in mid-February found a new mother on Thursday after the Wildlife Center of Virginia rehabilitated them.
Pedestrian bridge in downtown Culpeper on track for October completion
The construction of a pedestrian bridge and public restrooms in Culpeper’s Downtown Depot District is on track to be completed this fall. Called the Culpeper Station Pedestrian Bridge, the design of the project was initiated in November 2020 and completed in October 2022. Construction bids were received and opened in January 2023 with Taft Construction of Culpeper submitting the lowest bid in the total amount of $3,581,000.
State Police still trying to crack Alicia Showalter Reynolds abduction and murder
LIGNUM – Twenty-eight years March 2 since the disappearance of Alicia Showalter Reyolds in Culpeper County, State Police are asking people for any leads in her disappearance and murder. Culpeper man charged in connection with multi-vehicle Rockfish Gap Turnpike crash
ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - A multi-vehicle crash involving tied up traffic on Rockfish Gap Turnpike. The Albemarle County Police Department announced Saturday, March 2, that one of its officers was in a crash off Interstate 64 yesterday. ACPD says a Chrysler minivan struck the rear of an officer’s patrol vehicle shortly after 6 p.m. The impact from the crash caused the officer’s vehicle to strike the rear of a vehicle being towed, which in turn struck the wrecker.

Town of Culpeper collaborates with Civil War Trails & Old Trade Brewery to celebrate Woman’s History Month in Culpeper, VA
The Town of Culpeper began working with Civil War Trails® in 2023 to develop the story of Cornelia Hancock, a celebrated volunteer nurse who dedicated her life to serving others not only as a nurse during the Civil War, but also as a teacher, author and co-founder of the Children’s Aid Society of Pennsylvania and the Society for Organizing Charity. She was stationed at the Brandy Station, Virginia field hospital and is one of the rare women who lived and worked near the front lines during the war. A commemorative historic marker is scheduled to be installed at the Shiloh Baptist Church in Brandy Station so Cornelia’s story can be included in the Civil War Trails route through Virginia.
