Gas Prices Hold Steady as Summer Ends
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – After a turbulent summer, gas prices are set to remain steady as July ends and August begins. AAA’s Mid-Atlantic spokesperson, Morgan Dean, reports that the national average rose by only 2 cents last week, currently at $3.52 per gallon. In the Charlottesville area, the price of a gallon of gas stands at $3.43, just a penny higher than it was at this time last year.

Sentara phases pollutant gas from anesthesia use
Norfolk, Va.-based Sentara Health has largely phased out its use of desflurane in anesthesia, according to a July 25 WHRO News report. Desflurane is a greenhouse gas used for anesthesia. It became popular in the early 1990s due to its stability at a molecular level, according to Holly Mason, MD, an anesthesiologist at Sentara's Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, Va.
