Kansas woman killed after car rolled over, caught on fire near Pittsburg
CRAWFORD COUNTY, Kan. (KWCH) - A Kansas woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash Saturday morning near Pittsburg after her vehicle flipped over and caught on fire. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Ashley Rendon, 26, from Parsons was driving westbound on K-126, four miles west of Pittsburg, shortly after 3 a.m. when the vehicle drove off the road into the ditch and struck a culvert. KHP said that is when Rendon’s vehicle overturned onto its top and caught fire. The Kansas Highway Patrol said it is unknown why Rendon’s vehicle drove off the road.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A Carl Junction man gets federal prison time for trafficking methamphetamine and illegally possessing a firearm. Chet Mercer, 35, was sentenced Thursday, February 29 to 12 years in federal prison without parole. It comes after a guilty plea last October to the drug and weapon charges – Mercer admitted to possessing methamphetamine and a Springfield Armory 9mm firearm in 2021.

The most common type of crime was 'Suspicious Situation', with 50 instances, followed by 'Disturbance' with 41 cases, and 'Theft' with 35 cases. 'Assault' and 'Other' types of crimes were also significant, with 28 and 27 cases respectively.
