Earlier this month the council made a vote of no confidence in Mayor Dan Rife and to dismiss city administrator Greg Dagnon. Several people in the community have distributed a letter by email that says they are "in support of the immediate suspension of all proceedings leading to the removal of the two city officials.

SARCOXIE, Mo. — Motorists planning to travel through Sarcoxie, Missouri should be aware of upcoming roadwork on Loop 44 (High Street) that is anticipated to cause significant traffic disruptions from Saturday, April 27 to Wednesday, May 1, says MoDOT. The lane closures will occur between Birch Road and the Interstate 44 junction.
Financial strain threatens this Southwest Missouri animal shelter’s operations
CARTHAGE, Mo. — An area animal shelter, which is currently full, may have to shut its doors without an influx of more money. Even if you found a stray cat or dog in Carthage, you wouldn’t be able to take him or her to the community’s no-kill shelter. If things don’t change in the coming months, Nancy Corely, the president of the facility’s board of directors, says there won’t be a shelter to take them in at all.
Webb City driving range to open soon
WEBB CITY, Mo. — A new attraction in Webb City will soon be open for business. Tee Time will be the name of a Top Golf-type driving range facility in Centennial Park. City Manager Carl Francis said the business could be open by mid-May and could employ as many as 20 people. He said city residents won’t be the only customers once they’re up and running.
