SUV overturns off 249 near Carterville, motor ‘cold to the touch’
JASPER COUNTY, Mo. — About 5:45 a.m., Sunday, May 28, 2023 reports of an overturned vehicle off 249 near the split for Webb City/Carterville alerted Jasper County E-911. Carterville Fire Dept and METS ambulance responded. Due to the close proximity Carterville Police responded to the scene. Missouri State Highway Patrol were notified.

Carthage Celebration Honors Officer Lane Burns
(Carthage, MO) A celebration to honor Bonne Terre Officer Lane Burns will be held in his home town of Carthage this weekend. Burns was killed in the line of duty while he and his partner, Officer Garrett Worley, were answering a disturbance call at a Bonne Terre Motel in March of 2022. CARTHAGE, Mo. — Demolition is now complete at a longtime fixture in Carthage. A contractor removed the grandstands at Carl Lewton Stadium — also known as Rock Stadium. Workers were able to preserve some of the west side wall, but took down the rest of the condemned structure. The baseball field itself is still usable.
