West Joplin coming back to life, new businesses settle in
JOPLIN, Mo. — People living, working, or driving through one part of an area city now have a lot more choices when it comes to food and beverages. One of the area’s most heavily traveled intersections is experiencing a boom in food and beverage businesses. Trackside Burgers and Barbecue and Cup o’ Joe Coffee Company are two of the relatively new businesses to open their doors near the intersection of 7th and Maiden Lane in Joplin. And customers aren’t the only ones glad they did.
Homeless man charged Felony Kidnapping after attempt at Third Thursday
UPDATE: Johnny Arehart continues to be held in the Jasper County Jail on a no bond hold for Felony Child Kidnapping (June 3, 2023). His next court date is June 21, 2023. Arehart has pending charges of Felony Vehicle Tampering from a January 2023 incident in McDonald County. An FTA warrant was issued for his arrest since missing court. However he continues to be jailed in Jasper County.

Jasper County offices may get a picnic table added to grounds
Jun. 4—Employees at the Jasper County Administration Building may receive an outdoor picnic table to sit on during breaks sometime in the near future. Jasper County Treasurer Doug Bishop publicly requested the board of supervisors on March 23 to consider putting a picnic table outside the building. Bishop said he contacted the county's maintenance director and asked him to give him reasons why there wasn't a picnic table or two at the courthouse.
Troopers say man had 80 pounds of meth in his car
JASPER COUNTY, Mo. — A man was arrested in Jasper County after troopers say they found 80 pounds of meth in the rental car he was driving. Devion K.J. Boykin, 26, is charged in federal court with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell, distribute or dispense.

Wally Kennedy: Flat Creek Grill on brink of opening
Jun. 2—It took a long time to pin down a date, but it appears that the new Flat Creek Grill in Webb City will open at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. When I drove by the restaurant earlier this week, it appeared that it had opened because of all of the cars that were parked on the lot. A note posted on the door said it was a training day for new employees. The note also said the opening date would be June 6.

Neosho teen dies in head-on collision
NEOSHO, Mo. — A Neosho teen is dead following a head-on crash in Neosho Thursday morning. The wreck happened around 10 AM along MO 86 near Baxter Street in Neosho. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Sydnee Humphries, 18, was driving eastbound in a Chevy Malibu when she crossed the center line and hit a Kia Sportage straight-on in the oncoming westbound lane.
