Adrian breaks rivalry scoring record, cruises to playoff win over Tecumseh
ADRIAN — Everyone in Maple Stadium knew the game was over — everyone not named Romus Wyche. With a 31-point lead and less than a minute to go, Adrian’s backup running back made the most of a rare opportunity. Wyche turned one of the game’s final plays into its longest, rushing 80 yards for one last Maples touchdown. Talk about an exclamation point. The last-minute touchdown capped Adrian’s 65-27 win over Tecumseh on Friday night in the first round of the MHSAA playoffs. The Maples tallied 501 offensive yards to beat the Indians in the first-ever postseason matchup between the Lenawee County rivals. Adrian's 65 points set a new record for the most scored by either team in the longstanding rivalry, breaking the previous record of 55 set by the Maples in 2010.
