Man convicted of kidnapping, raping 13-year-old to be paroled after appeal denied
ANN ARBOR, MI – A man convicted of kidnapping and raping a 13-year-old girl will be released on parole after a judge denied an emergency appeal. John Robert Lee, 44, is scheduled to be leave the G. Robert Cotton Correctional Facility in Jackson sometime in early May after the Michigan Parole Board granted him freedom for a second time, according to Kyle Kaminski, spokesperson for the Michigan Department of Corrections.
Metro Detroit sinkhole to be repaired after sewer collapse
(CBS DETROIT) - Crews are set to repair a sinkhole in an Oakland County community Wednesday following a sewer collapse, city officials said. The sinkhole is located on Willits between Chester and Greenwood. City officials investigated the sinkhole on Tuesday, April 23, and determined it was caused by a 12-inch sewer collapse. The collapse caused a surcharge to flow into the catch basin that leads into the Rouge River, city officials said. The surcharge is less than 100 gallons, according to city officials, and crews installed a bypass to contain the overflow. Birmingham's contractor will complete the repairs on Wednesday.There is no threat to public health, and Birmingham "is in compliance with its National Pollutant Discharge Elimination permit," according to city officials.

And by the end of 2024, they hope to have an even more robust menu by relocating their office to 300 West Michigan Avenue. Officials at Ypsilanti Health are hoping that this move to Ypsi's downtown space will not only offer them the ability to expand their services provided to include things, like radiology and specialty care--things that just aren't quite feasible with the space they currently occupy-- but also to become more centralized and accessible to the majority of Ypsi residents. South Lyon Area Creek Cleanup yields more garbage than ever. Here's what was found
SOUTH LYON- More, more, more. The 20th annual South Lyon Area Creek Cleanup was all about more — more volunteers, more area covered and more garbage removed. “It was our best ever cleanup,” Suzann Martin, organizer and wellhead protection committee member, said. “Just in the number of people who came out to help and the amount of items brought in off the water and everybody having a great time. Everyone came together and did a great job.”Roughly 140 volunteers, including members of the city council, civic groups, students, Scouts, police and firefighters, and special guest Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist fanned out across the city, and into Lyon and Green Oak townships, to fish items out of waterways and wetlands.

Walled Lake garage contractor sentenced for scamming homeowners
A Walled Lake garage contractor, Artemio Sessions, was sentenced to 40-240 months in prison for repeatedly scamming homeowners out of tens of thousands of dollars. Sessions, 56, was convicted of felony charges for the scheme he ran through his business, Garages R Us. Sixth Circuit Court Judge Cheryl Matthews delivered the sentence on Monday, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel said in a Wednesday news release.
