East China Twp. man charged in Isabella County for fatal crash
A St. Clair County man has been charged in connection to a fatal crash in Isabella County. Kyle Adams, 37, was arraigned Friday on charges of operating while intoxicated causing death, punishable with up to 15 years in prison, and two counts of operating while intoxicated causing serious bodily injury, each punishable with up to five years in prison.
Lakeside Mall permanently closing this summer: What to know
STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – A closing date was announced this week for the once-bustling Lakeside Mall in Macomb County that has been slated for redevelopment for years. Many storefronts have already moved out of the indoor shopping center over the last few years, some due to the COVID pandemic and others because of plans to redevelop the space. The mall will permanently close, however, on July 1, 2024, according to those behind the redevelopment plans.
Community Resource Fair set in Port Huron
On May 8, the Housing & Support Workgroup under the St. Clair County Community Services Coordinating Body will host its 16th annual Community Resource Fair. “The fair is a one-day, one-stop event designed to provide services and supports for individuals and families who are experiencing homelessness, at-risk of becoming homeless or experiencing extreme financial difficulty,” organizers said in a press release. “This year’s fair will be an in-person event that will feature a variety of community resource vendors, a mobile food pantry, personal care items and giveaways. Community First Health Centers and the St. Clair County Health Department will also be onsite offering vaccines and testing for attendees.”
L’Anse Creuse, New Haven school districts seek bond issues
Two Macomb County school districts are asking voters to approve bond issues to fund upgrades to facilities, security, technology and more. L’Anse Creuse Public Schools is hoping to secure $330 million, while New Haven Community Schools is seeking $43.66 million. Officials in both districts said the bond issues would not result in a tax increase, as the current rate would be extended if approved.
Man charged in killing after victim struck by bullet through front door of apartment
KALAMAZOO, MI – A 19-year-old man is charged with open murder in the killing of a man who was shot through the front door of an apartment. Jamyre Cameron Thompson was arraigned Wednesday, May 1, in Kalamazoo District Court in the April 9 killing of Mark Wayne Jackson, 53, of New Baltimore in Macomb County.
