WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Gov. Laura Kelly made a stop in Wichita on Monday as she continues the push to expand Medicaid in Kansas.

Kelly appeared at a town hall hosted by the Kansas Health Foundation and says she expects debate on the Senate floor this Friday on whether to pull the bill out of committee. She urged people to contact their state legislators.

“People aren’t talking yet. They need to hear from lots of folks that they want this done. I’m very convinced that if they’re given the opportunity to vote on Medicaid expansion, it will pass,” Kelly said.

About 70% of Kansans support Medicaid expansion, according to the latest FHSU Docking Institute of Public Affairs annual Kansas Speaks Survey .

Kelly also told KSN News that she has not made a decision about the tax bill that has been sitting on her desk. She has until Thursday to act.
