Adrian approves homelessness pilot program 'Find a Way Home'
The Adrian City Commission approved a pilot program to help individuals affected by homelessness reconnect with family, rehabilitation programs or other support outside the city Nov. 2. "Find a Way Home" was approved as a short-term goal after making homelessness one of four immediate city priorities Oct. 19. Officials previously discussed modeling the effort after Kalamazoo’s “Finding Your Way Home,” which helps individuals affected by homelessness reconnect with family and other support systems. As of August 2025, that program had reunited nearly 70 people with their families since 2023, according to reporting by WWMT. Mayor Angela Heath said the goal of the new pilot is to help those who want to improve their circumstances by providing a safe destination. “To get them to that family, to get them to that rehab or whatever it might be,” Heath said. Commissioner Charles Moore questioned whether the program would serve solely city residents or others who've traveled from elsewhere and are staying at Share the Warmth. Heath said it could serve either, including local residents with family outside the area. Moore also questioned whether vacated shelter beds would simply be filled by other people. Adrian's season unravels in district finals loss to Divine Child, Week 11 playoffs roundup
DEARBORN — Luke Bruggeman’s jersey told the story. The royal blue No. 7 on the back of his jersey was practically illegible, with the lettering and a significant portion of the fabric ripped loose. Bruggeman’s undershirt didn’t fare much better as a sizeable hole tore through the fabric on the upper half of his left sleeve. The jersey was battered. So were the Maples. Adrian wrapped up its 2026 season Friday night with a 49-14 loss to Divine Child in the MHSAA Division 4 district finals. The reigning state champion Falcons put the game out of reach early and took a 42-0 lead into halftime. Divine Child’s dynamic duo of quarterback Drew Sheridan and wide receiver Rayshawn Thomas plagued the Maples from the opening drive. Adrian had no answers for the Falcons’ potent passing attack. Offensively, Adrian struggled with Divine Child’s speed and size at the line of scrimmage. The Maples didn’t record a first down until the third quarter. Bruggeman failed to score a touchdown and was held under 100 yards for the first time this season. Adrian’s special teams struggled, too.
