NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A Long Island man who allegedly assaulted and injured a police officer while needing medical attention was arrested over the weekend, according to Nassau County police.

Officers responded to a call at a residence on Fir Street in Valley Stream around 8:45 p.m. on Saturday after receiving reports about a man requiring medical help.

Upon arrival, police found Yves Fenelon, 30, who cops said needed medical evaluation and treatment.

Fenelon allegedly began arguing with the officers, police said.

Despite several attempts to deescalate the situation, Fenelon allegedly turned physical, according to the police report.

During the altercation, one officer fell and was injured on his left arm and both hands.

Fenelon allegedly continued to spit on the officers.

He was eventually subdued and arrested.

The suspect was taken to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment.

The injured officer was also transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Fenelon was charged with second-degree assault, third-degree criminal mischief, and resisting arrest.
