First Frost of the Season Possible for the Toledo Area Next Tuesday Morning as Cold Air Spreads Across the Great Lakes Right on Schedule
Toledo, Ohio – There is some bad news on the way for mosquitoes and ragweed. The first frost of the season is possible for parts of the Toledo area next Tuesday morning, October 6. Frost is most likely northwest of Toledo, while areas near the Lake Erie shoreline are unlikely to see it. Interestingly, October 6 is also Toledo’s average date for the first frost of the season, making this about as “normal” as it gets.

As a waterfront property owner along Bay Shore Road, she has a front-row seat to the situation. She said it is “gross, thick, putrid green water” that suggests to her that the battle against algal blooms is far from over. Justin Chaffin, Ohio Sea Grant/Ohio State University Stone Laboratory research coordinator, said last week’s strong winds from the northeast “concentrated the HAB [harmful algal bloom] into the Maumee Bay area, but the sloshing effect might push
