Artist uses a 104-foot canvas to celebrate Wooster’s heritage and identity

WOOSTER - Last summer, Main Street Wooster put out a request for proposals for an artist to paint a downtown mural. Wooster native Isabel Bongue answered the call. Bongue, 36, was born and raised in Wooster before moving to Columbus. She's been painting murals for 10 years. She's a graphic designer as well as a tattoo artist. Painting set backdrops first piqued Bongue's interset in painting on a larger scale. Bongue took a shot at the request for proposals since it was in her hometown. "I regularly look for calls for artists," said Bongue. "I probably spend three to five days out of every month trying to." Bongue started the mural on Sept. 14 and planned to have it finished by October. However, unexpected circumstances pushed the completion date to the end of October. The mural beautifies the 104-foot side of a building. The creative process Two ways entities advertise for mural artists are through requests for qualifications and requests for proposals. Wayne Center for the Arts names New FabLab After Seaman Family

Wayne Center for the Arts has named its new FabLab for Innovation and Creativity following the completion of a $2.6 million capital campaign that also funded a new arts park. The FabLab naming recognizes support from the Seaman Family Foundation and Seaman Corporation, according to a community announcement. The Seaman family made one of the campaign's final major gifts in collaboration with the Stanley C. Gault Philanthropic Fund at the Wayne County Community Foundation, which provided the capstone gift. The campaign paid for development of the FabLab and the Ralph R. and Grace B. Jones Arts Park. Both opened June 27. The new FabLab gives students and other community members space to explore glasswork, enameling, woodworking, welding, blacksmithing and other creative disciplines. "We are excited to partner with Wayne Center for the Arts to bring the Fablab to life,” says Kimberly Seaman, executive director of the Seaman Family Foundation. “Innovation begins with creative thinking and the Fablab will provide students opportunities to develop the problem-solving, design, and technical skills that fuel both artistic expression and workforce success. This investment supports the next generation of makers, innovators, and skilled professionals who will help our community thrive.” According to the announcement, the
