CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The Iowa Department of Transportation plans to replace the signalized intersection of Iowa 58 and Greenhill Road in Cedar Falls with an interchange. MASON CITY — Weather has had an impact on the State Highway 122 project near MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City. Pete Hjelmstad with the Iowa Department of Transportation says while the plan was to potentially have traffic open in one lane on both sides of the highway, that will be delayed. “They’re plugging away — they’re working on intersections and sidewalks, they are putting down some sod, there’s a retaining wall that needs to be done. So once they get that stuff done, that would affect the outside lanes. They hope to have that switched over to the outside lanes, and we’re still shooting for about Thanksgiving Day for an opening date, so we’ll keep pushing on that one. It’s been a little challenging right now, and looking at the forecast, it doesn’t look real promising right now, but like I said we’ll take what we get and keep moving forward.”
