VAN WERT, Ohio (WOWO) — After a one-day jury trial, Leonard DeLong, 36, was sentenced to 180 days in the Van Wert County Correctional Facility. According to a police report dated May 12, Delong and his girlfriend, Latricia Darst, made multiple calls to the police department about being harassed by law enforcement and being struck by a Van Wert Police Department cruiser while riding his bicycle.

HAVILAND- A Rossburg teen was killed when he ran a stop sign crossing State Route 114 west of Haviland. Hayden Matthew Smith, age 16, was driving a 1991 Ford F-150 southbound on County Road 87 at approximately 9:27 a.m., according to a press release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol. When he ran a stop sign at the intersection of State Route 114 he struck the trailer of a 2017 Volvo westbound semi, driven by Gary G. Ballenger, age 54 of Oakwood.
