Hall of Famer Mark Nell back coaching as assistant under son Jordan at Findlay
FINDLAY — As Jordan Nell progresses through his first season as a high school baseball head coach guiding the Findlay Trojans, he is also experiencing a family role reversal. One of his assistant coaches is his father, Mark Nell, a Hall of Fame prep baseball coach, Jordan's former coach at Anthony Wayne, and for six seasons his boss when he was a Generals assistant coach. These days, Jordan, 30, calls the shots, and dad Mark, 63, is the loyal assistant — just looking to pitch in with some baseball wisdom gleaned from 538 career victories on the diamond. “He says it's my program,” Jordan said of Mark. “I say it's our program. He does a good job here, and I think he just likes being around the kids, and the kids have responded well to us. We both bring our own dynamics, and our other assistants are great coaches.”
