Man charged with DUI for fatal Hwy 90 wreck in Biloxi
BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - A Louisiana man is charged with aggravated DUI causing death after a wreck Saturday morning at the intersection of Hwy 90 and Veterans Ave. in Biloxi. It happened around 5:20 a.m. and involved only one vehicle. A witnesses who drove past the scene told WLOX News a truck with two people inside had crashed into a street light or power pole.
Duson named after former St. Landry Parish sheriff, developer
Duson is a bit of an oddity, split between Lafayette and Acadia parishes and named for a man who was sheriff in St. Landry Parish. Cornelius "Curley" Duson was born and reared in a part of southwestern St. Landry Parish that would become part of Acadia Parish, according to Carola Lillie Hartley in a Dec. 18, 2020, story in The Daily World. After service in the Confederacy during the Civil War and his capture and imprisonment, he returned to St. Landry Parish where he married and began working with the sheriff's department.

Lake Charles, LA (KPLC) - A man who was 16 years old when he took part in a killing near Opelousas and Ange streets in 2020 was sentenced Monday to 15 years in prison. Trylin Francisco, now 19, was tried as an adult in the shooting death of 53-year-old Anthony Juan Bennett in July 2020.
