An unusual court case between a Louisiana homeowner and real estate investment company is expected to go to trial Monday in Lafayette. It all started with a 2015 grass-cutting lien for $409 on a vacant lot in Carencro that Theresa "Kim" Guillot once owned with her ex-husband. The lien that should have been filed against the Carencro property was instead filed by the Lafayette Parish Tax Assessor's Office against the property where Guillot lives in Scott.
