Opelousas Main Street, Inc. and the City of Opelousas Tourism have released the 2023 collectible Christmas ornament. It features the Joseph H. Wier Memorial Building, also known as the Hebrard House. This building, in Opelousas, Louisiana, is one of the city's oldest. It's recognized for its Federal style architecture. The two-story brick building was a tavern in the 1820s. Later, Ludger Lastrapes, a merchant, and Pierre Leonce Hebrard, a pharmacist and lawyer, bought it.
Rayne Resident Arrested on Drug Charges after Traffic Stop in Assumption Parish
Christopher P. Dyson, 51, from Rayne, LA, was detained on drug-related felony charges after a traffic stop in Bayou L’Ourse, Assumption Parish. Sheriff Leland Falcon stated that a narcotics officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Dyson was identified as the driver, and the officer detected a strong marijuana odor from the car.
State Police: Man involved in fight on I-10 struck, killed by vehicle
ACADIA PARISH, La. (KPLC) - A man involved in a fight on I-10 west of Crowley this morning was struck and killed, Louisiana State Police said. A vehicle was traveling westbound around 3 a.m. when two of the occupants became involved in a physical altercation, according to Trooper First Class Thomas Gossen, spokesman for Troop I.
