Placido’s Pasta Shop in Eugene has been a staple for pasta lovers for more than a decade. That dedication from impressed restaurant reviewers earned the eatery official recognition as one of Yelp’s top 100 pasta places of 2026 . Yelp’s inaugural list of the top 100 pasta joints in the U.S. celebrates both National Pasta Day on Oct. 17 and “America’s ever-growing passion for the popular dish,” according to an article posted to Yelp's site. Yelp searches for “pasta shops” increased 52% in the period from September 2025 to August 2026 compared to the 12 months prior, showing a desire for handmade pasta and spaces that inspire diners to slow down, according to the restaurant ratings organization. The Italian restaurant at 120 Shelton Mcmurphey Blvd. has been serving fresh pasta since 2015. Chef Joe Placido previously told The Register-Guard about pasta’s versatility. His menu reflects a focus on high-quality ingredients and well-made pasta. “I like really traditional Italian dishes, but ones that really use the best ingredients that I can source,” Placido said. His decades of cooking experience culminate in a restaurant any local foodie knows well. Menu staples like spaghetti and meatballs, the house-smoked salmon alfredo and the shrimp
