After having an employee exposed to fentanyl, the Mill Casino reached out to S.C.I.N.T. and the Sheriff’s Office for training on illicit narcotics they come into contact with while at work. On April 1st and 3rd, Sheriff Gabe Fabrizio and Capt. Sean Sanborn spoke with staff at the Mill Casino about the dangers of fentanyl and what to do if they come across the substance. Both men fielded questions from Casino staff and provided them with an excellent working knowledge of the illicit narcotic, how to handle it, and procedures to dispose of it. Coquille School bond measure on the ballot
The Coquille School District will ask voters at the May Primary Election to approve a $14.555 million bond measure to improve the safety and accessibility of three district schools. Ballots for the May 21 Primary Election will be mailed to voters by May 2, according to the Elections Department of the Coos County Clerk’s Office. Red Devils, Siuslaw win Coquille Twilight Meet

Man arrested at Lakeside McKay’s by Dunes Deputy Patrolling ATV route on quad
On April 12th, 2024, at 2:49 p.m., the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a report of a man who had previously trespassed from McKay’s in Lakeside, located at 100 N. 8th Street in Lakeside, back on the property. Dunes Deputy M.R. Smith diverted from his duties in the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area (ODNRA) to patrol the Lakeside ATV route and attempt to locate the suspect David J. Kehl (60). Deputy M.R. Smith located David at the Lakeside McKay’s. A record check on Mr. Kehl revealed he had a valid outstanding warrant for his arrest. Dispatch confirmed the warrant, and David J. Kehl (60) was placed under arrest. David J. Kehl was transported to the Coos County Jail by Deputy B. Kent, who was operating a patrol vehicle. Mr. Kehl was booked and remains in custody.
