Letter: Please support the public safety levy
I strongly support the upcoming levy proposal entitled Support Public Safety that will be on the ballot this May. As I understand it, without passage severe revenue shortages will further restrict hiring in law enforcement and in the District Attorney’s office. Meet and Greet in Bandon
The Bandon Fisheries Warehouse has been hosting a Meet-n-Greet every Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. featuring a different speaker from the local community each week. A recent 'Meet-n-Greet' speaker was Debbie Mueller from the Coos County Sheriff's office. On Tuesday, April 23, Mueller discussed local emergency preparedness issues, covering everything from tsunamis to fires, to the importance of having “Go Bags.” Speakers scheduled for May include representatives from homeless response, Bandon Chamber of Commerce, Good Earth Community Garden and Bandon History Museum.

Coquille man arrested on the charge of DUII after crash
On April 21st at 8:30 p.m., the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a report of a single-vehicle crash on Fairview Road near milepost 11. Fairview Fire, Coquille Ambulance, and Sgt. Boswell from the Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash. The driver was identified as Tony Florez (20) of Coquille. He had some minor scratches but was otherwise uninjured. During an investigation, Sgt. Boswell had Mr. Florez perform the standardized field sobriety tests and later arrested him on the charge of DUII. Tony Florez (20) was transported to the Coos County Jail for additional testing. Mr. Florez was issued a citation for DUII and released to a sober adult.

North Bend’s boys and girls used depth to sweep the boys and girls team titles at the Coos County Meet on Friday night, while several standouts won multiple events. Coos Bay man sentenced to more than 8 years in prison for stabbing, attempted kidnapping
COOS BAY, Ore. – A 40-year-old Coos Bay man was sentenced to more than 8 years in prison last Friday as part of a plea deal for an incident last October in which he stabbed a man and attempted to kidnap the victim’s girlfriend, according to the Coos County Sheriff’s Office and court records.
