    Expressions West 2024 & Mimi Fox “Spiritual Paintings of Hope and Joy” Exhibitions at Coos Art Museum

    Coos Art Museum will be exhibiting the Expressions West 2024 juried art competition unitl June 23, 2024. Artists from thirteen western states were invited to compete in this annual event. Come explore the eclectic perspectives this year’s exhibit has to offer, and join us for the opening reception on Friday, April 26, from 5-7pm.

    In addition to the Expressions West exhibition, CAM is thrilled to announce the opening of Spiritual Paintings of Hope and Joy by Washington artist, Mimi Fox, on view from April 26-June30, 2024. The opening reception for this exhibit will also be on April 26, from 5-7pm.

    Trained in the traditional sense, Fox received her bachelor’s degree at Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland, Oregon, and holds a master’s degree in art from Washington State University. She taught studio courses for Pacific Northwest College of Art, and Eastern OR State University. After graduate school, she studied with the Benedictine priests of St. Benedict, Oregon, and the Benedictine Sisters of Mt. Angel. She also taught drawing and painting for the seminarians at Mount Angel Seminary and the Benedictine Sisters.

    Coos Art Museum has been a cultural focal point of Oregon’s scenic Southern Coast since 1966. It occupies the historic 1936 Art Deco US Federal Building in downtown Coos Bay. The museum offers a wide range of arts activities including exhibitions, art classes, lectures, and community events.

    Museum hours are 11:00am-4:00pm, Tuesday through Friday, and 1:00-4:00pm Saturday and Sunday.

    Admission is $5 general, $2 students, veterans, and seniors. Free to museum members.
