ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH, La. (WGNO) — A body was recovered in the Mississippi River in Garyville on Wednesday, April 24. The St. John Sheriff’s Office reported deputies responded to a call around 8:30 a.m. about a “badly decomposed” body floating in the river in Garyville.

Harrisonburg Police identify suspect in Thursday robbery
HARRISONBURG, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – The Harrisonburg Police Department has identified the suspect in Thursday’s robbery on South Main Street. According to Harrisonburg City Communications Director Michael Parks, the suspect has been identified as Tevin E. White, 29, from Ama, Louisiana. HPD has obtained a felony warrant against White for robbery by force.
Slidell man dead after driving off Highway 90 near Bridge City, state police say
A Slidell man was killed Tuesday when he drove off U.S. Highway 90 and hit a bridge near Bridge City, according to Louisiana State Police. Xavier Gonzales, 44, was driving east on Highway 90 between Nine Mile Point Road and Seven Oaks Boulevard when he drove is 2023 Chevy Bolt off the left side of the road and collided with the supports of a bridge, police said.

Jesuit and Mount Carmel won Class 5A regional track and field team championships on the strength of their distance runners Wednesday at Hahnville. Jesuit, a regional track team champion for the first time in school history, clinched the team points lead when junior Brady Mullen and sophomore Brady Monahan finished first and third in the 3,200 meters. Mullen also ran anchor on the winning 4x800 relay that finished less than one second ahead of Brother Martin.

Pickleball, tennis, turf fields coming to St. Charles Parish with $3.9M park renovation
St. Charles Parish officials on Thursday will officially cut the ribbon on its $3.9 million revitalization of the West Bank Bridge Park in Hahnville.
