Ohio Bobcats’ Defense Still Talented After Losing Nearly All Of Its D-Line & Linebackers
Ohio had two linebackers ranked in the top 10 in the MAC in tackles last season. Bryce Houston and Keye Thompson were some of the most productive defenders in the league. Houston has since graduated and Thompson transferred to Pittsburgh. Both were voted first-team all-conference last season. They were part of a defense that led the MAC in total defense (273.9 yards per game) and scoring defense (15.8 points per game).

On Monday night and during the weekend, Caskey completed the first steps in painting the mural, which was commissioned by Athens County Children Services. Independent candidate, Jon Rose, certified to run for Athens County commissioner
On Wednesday, the Athens County Board of Elections voted unanimously to certify independent candidate Jon Rose‘s petition to run for a seat on Athens County Board of Commissioners. Rose, a former Athens County EMS employee, will run against incumbent Charlie Adkins for the term that starts Jan. 2, 2025. Rose collected 308 signatures for his petition, of which 209 were validated. On his campaign’s Facebook page, Rose thanked his supporters. The deadline to certify independent candidates is May 31, according to the Ohio Secretary of State’s website. Any protests against an independent candidate must be filed by June 14.
Country music concert to raise money for vets’ retreat
ROCKBRIDGE — Along Kreashbaum Road in Rockbridge, a retreat that’s being developed for combat veterans and their families is taking a step toward completion, with an upcoming concert and fun run to raise money for the project. A former employee of an area nursing home is alleging that her employer violated Ohio’s whistleblower protection law, by firing her for raising concerns about nurse understaffing and resident safety.
