ALLEN COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - The Shawnee Optimist Club met Wednesday to recognize the hard work of local students. Every year, the Shawnee Optimist Club holds an essay contest for middle school students to write an essay on optimism with a topic of their choosing. The students recognized were the top essays picked in the contest, and they read their speeches to the audience, conveying their perception of optimism and how it can change our lives.
West Union Street Construction

This week’s average prices for a gallon of unleaded gas in South Central Ohio average is $3.543. The average price per gallon last week $3.657. ATHENS — The Local Butcher LLC of Athens announced a voluntary recall of meat products produced without inspection and sold at a Nelsonville facility. According to a release from the Ohio Department of Agriculture, the company recalled 82.83 pounds of bacon, 48.52 pounds of peppered bacon, 15.21 pounds of bacon burgers and 89.66 pounds of whole hams due to the product being produced without the benefit of inspection and misbranding.
