Mandi “Miss Birdy” Caskey’s outline for a mural on the East State St./Route 33 Underpass waits to be painted. On Monday night and during the weekend, Caskey completed the first steps in painting the mural, which was commissioned by Athens County Children Services. A former employee of an area nursing home is alleging that her employer violated Ohio’s whistleblower protection law, by firing her for raising concerns about nurse understaffing and resident safety. LOGAN — The Hocking Metropolitan Housing Agency (HMHA), which is being sued by a tenant, has denied the man’s claim that the agency missed a deadline for filing a legal motion to dismiss his complaint.
